just got home with the new to me 500 keto. thanks to ken for finding it and going to look at it for me. it was over in his neck of the woods.we left at 4am and just got back. 588 miles round trip. at 2am i went out to sand roads so its been a long day. ken texted me saying we let anybody into our country.........thanks...... when i pulled up to customs the window was frozen and wouldnt open. it was all down hill from there. they thought we should come inside. we had a nice visit and were on our way. coming back into maine went pretty smooth. i had hired a broker and they did all the paper work. i fueled up in calais tonite diesel was $2.29 this morning it was $3.17 quite a drop in one day

Can you run the same computer as your 150?   I haven't heard anything bad about a 500, other than tracks wearing out.   Does it have a track oiling system?

same computer. it oils the tracks and they are new. we put it in the truck with the loader on a farm tractor. it wasnt fun. i took it out with my excavator that was easy. the guy i bought it from said you cant haul that in that little 1/2ton ford. its not a 1/2 ton gvw is 10000lbs. got 20mpg on the way over 18 coming back

Is that a feller head ?
cut to length processor. it cuts it and limbs it

Ken

Glad you got it home safe and sound.  Bet the truck drove nice on the way home with the extra ton+ of weight in the bed.  Now we need to see a picture of it hanging off the Rottne.  Hope it works out well for you.

Sounds like you're starting a new adventure. Let us know how it turns out.
Make sure you know how to fall properly when you fall and as to not hurt anyone around you.
Also remember, it's not the fall what hurts, its the sudden stop. !!

its on and it works. it is a beast. it feeds slower than my 150 but it has more feed force. when i first fired it up everything worked except it wouldnt tilt up. the green lite was on for that valve. it has a pin you can push by hand. worked that back an forth and took the hose off the cyl after doing that a few times i had oil. now it works . it will clean off a 5" oak limb you may have to back up a couple times and open the knifes but it will do it

Ken

Glad it works.  Hopefully it removes limbs for a long time to come.  Looked like a pretty beefy head.  Does it add a lot of weight to the end of the boom and does it require extra hydraulic flow?

from the keto spec the 150 weighted 1780lbs feed speed 17.4 ft per sec feed force6970lbs at 260bar         the 500 2380 lbs   feed speed 13.5ft per sec  feed force 7550lbs at 260bar. they both use the same saw motor. the tracks are longer and wider on the 500. the 150 stood up very well and it was quick. in wood 18" on the stump and under it dose very well

snowstorm

it dosent load the motor any more than the other one did. its 175hp 85gpm at 3800psi. the 500 hydraulic system is different then the 150. the 500 is 2 line the 150 was 3. they bolth work fine

I think that may be my old head was it from Don? if it was that head had a complete overhaul . I just got a keto 150 on a linkbelt. I have tons of 500 keto parts . Im really worried about the 150 keto cutting our trees down here in NB seems so small (the head) . I need a parts head if anybody knows of one . here is the pic of mine .

snowstorm

nope i dont think its the same one. mine came from a bit further east almost to moncton
