I picked up an old babbet bearing Preston planer with flat belts and all
that appears to be in great shape.  Has anyone had experience with one of these machines? Appears to be s3s but could it have had a bottom head? Is it possible to profile knives to make circle sawn flooring with one of these machines?  It is still in storage but we hope to move it in the next week or so and will know more then. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Can you describe more about this?

No, I wasn't thinking of adding a saw just tongue and groove a then surface - relieve the back. I've never worked with a machine like this or produced flooring before. Just thought this might be an affordable way to get started if it is precision enough.  I have a helper that is familiar with modern moulers but nothing of this vintage. It was used privately and not in a commercial application so appears to be in good shape.
