Finally got her together, unfortunately when I had it apart and pulled it over, the wire shocked me and I thought it would suffice. I had the points and coil set to specs. So I put it together and went to fire er up for the first time with no luck.

When I pull it over the wire will shock your finger, but when I put the plug on and try and ground it I get no spark arching on the plug. Anyways I was so frustrated that I set it on the shelf for the time being. Atleast now I know everything else is "solid" and now it's down to an isolated problem. But any who, here's some pictures. There's some.pictures of the "rotary valve intake" which I thought was really cool.

I can't imagine trying to make a living with that but lots of men did. Good job.

Beats a cross cut whip saw by a long shot.
On the spark issue, check your plug wire as it may have a worn spot shorting out at the higher voltages.
Too many chainsaws, not enough wood.

Great job! Looks great. Thanks for all the pics, the rotary intake is cool, have not seen one before. Have you tried a different plug as well? Could be something simple like that. Good luck!

Tried a different plug thinking the porcelain was cracked and still no bueno. Atleast it's an isolated problem, and it's sitting on the shelf for one of those rainy days. I have more pictures I took of the tear down, and the rebuild. I'll upload some more later.

This is a very common problem on old engines, cracked insulation allows spark to jump to ground.
