Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum, 61 years old, live in North Carolina and have a few power tools-mostly Stihl. My first chainsaw was a McCulloch 710 which still runs great and is still used upon occasion. I recently needed to sharpen a gate post using my Stihl ms191t. This saw is >10 years old and is used for some apple tree pruning and mainly brush trimming around the farm.  It started right up and ran for a few seconds, then started running poorly. I emptied the gas, made new gas with Stihl synthetic 2 cycle oil and replaced the plug with a new one. Still no better. I took the saw to the Napa Auto Parts Stihl dealership in Elizabethton, Tennessee for repair. They phoned the next day saying it would cost $250 to fix the saw and that there was something wrong with the carb. I told them not to fix the saw and that I would pick it up. When I went to get it, it was returned in a big box completely disassembled and I do mean completely. Bottom line, I have ordered a carb kit and am going to reassemble the saw. I think I have everything pretty much figured out except the routing of the throttle linkage. Does anyone have access to a shop manual or schematic showing this detail? Thanks in advance.

John,
I dont have the 191 worshop manual on any of my Stihl cds/dvds.
If you are patient enough, maybe some one will post you a reply.
In the mean time, the 190, 192, 191 usually fails the way you said for the usual two reasons
1. A blocked fuel filter in the tank
2. A disintegrating primer bulb
Both are easily replaced.
Another cause would be bad fuel hoses.

You need to get that saw back together first.
If it is just the throttle linkage that is the issue, one small suggestion is have the linkage in position on the carb before you fit the carb.
I think fixing the other end onto the trigger is much easier.
Good luck

Joe
