Nice work.
I have seen metal lathes used for wood turning before but have never seen anyone use a hole saw for a drive spur, that is a good idea.
You may think that you can or may think you can't; either way, you are right.

I wont be useing my metal lathe for wood anymore...
I just picked up this  J-Line, Brodhead Garrett this summer at a auction for $75.00.
I had to convert it from 3ph to single but I got it done already.

Did you get a vfd for the wood lathe? I could see where a vfd and variable speed would be nice on a wood lathe.

I put a static phase converter on it.
The lathe allready has a variable speed reeves drive on it.
The lathe came from a schools shop. Very heavy duty.
I cant beleve no one else bid on it.

Gotta love old American iron. If something breaks, it's worth fixing. Unlike most modern tools.

Very nice work!  I watched an online auction site that was selling all the equiptment from a community college's wood shop a year or so ago, if only I lived closer to some place in Pennsylvania I could of had a lathe, table saw, band saw, and a few others for less than $500.  It would have been worth the trip  ::).
