G'day Everybody,
A teaser for the weekend. Guess the sport, from the photo.

It was invented/started in NZ in 1981. The course covers the area of a football field.  The channels are 16-28 feet wide and up to 3 feet deep.  The course involves 25-30 directional changes, and takes around 60 seconds to complete.  Armed with this info, a web search (if you dont already know) should get you there fairly quickly!
Answer on Monday if no takers!  ;)
Cheers
Charlie.

Thats an easy one, I watch tah on ESPN. Those guys are nuts. its amazing how fast they can take those turns.
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Tom

I know what that is........I know, I know!!!!

It's power boat racing of some sort.  I've seen it on TV and those guys are crazy.   They speed around, 2 in a boat that is going full bore and sliding everywhere.  They end up on the islands and spinning out in the dead ends and all kinds of fun stuff.  I'de like to do that.  It reminds me a little of the swamp buggy races down in Naples Florida.

I think you are all mistaken.

That game was invented in the Ozarks many years ago.

You have the times and distances about right and I would recognize that path anywhere.

It's called STOCK THE OUTHOUSE WITH SMARTWEED LEAVES!!!

G'day Guys,

Yep you got it, the crazy world of Jetsprinting.  These boats are amazing, only about 12 feet long and with engines like the 406 ci Chev, up to 676 ci producing 1200 hp!  The original jet unit was invented in NZ, the Hamilton Jet, which basically sucks water in and through the impellor unit its forced out the back.  It can operate in only a few inches of water, and was used in almost flat hulled boats, so they could get up the South Island rivers, which are very wide, but not very deep.  The units now are even more refined and are being developed for the sport all the time.  No rudders, the jet outlet nozzle - up to 8.5 inches diameter - just turns to direct the flow, hence the extremely tight turning they do.
Yes Tom, they do end up on the islands fairly regularly, its an amazing sport to watch.  Some times they end up a long way from the water and catch fire too!........

Cheers
Charlie

Kiwi,

I couldn't quite make out what you wrote because I can't find my glasses.  I Assume you are congratulating me on winning your brain-teaser.  BTW, where did you get that picture of Aunt Beulah?  I remember when she tangled with those smartweeds.  She said they pert-near set her on fire.
