Looking for info on a skidder I want to get running, serial # is 654541, is it a 1965 model. It has a 6 cylinder 240 industrial ford gas engine, would I be able to use an aluminum rad as the original is missing. Thanks for any info

I don't have any info, but welcome to the forum!  There are lots of TJ guys on here, someone will be able to help you out. If you have the serial #, you're already doing pretty well I'd say.  One old TJ I helped a friend with, we couldn't find numbers anywhere on that thing- 40 years of grease, grime, and scraping through brush and rocks had rubbed everything off.

I can't speak to your question about the aluminum rad, but there will be plenty of mechanics on here who can.

I can tell you that the old 205's are great machines. I had one with the Ford diesel (272 if I recall). It was the perfect hobby skidder. Just be careful of the planetary drives. They are a weak point, and parts are hard to find. Don't be mowing trees over, or wedging the machine between tress/stumps, otherwise you will have trouble. Enjoy.

An aluminium rad will be fine as long as the cooling capacity is large enough for the engine. My advice would be to make sure that the air deflector is in place for the fan or it may overheat.
