Is it possible to change or slow a 3450 RPM motor to 1725 RPM. Gear reduction or pulley changes are not options.

If it is not a two speed motor. It would have to be rewound. Not practical.     Wait a minute. If it is a 3 phase motor you could use a VFD.    Muggs

There are two ways to change the speed of an AC motor. One would be to physically change the number of poles in the windings of the rotor and the other is to change the frequency of the power source. Neither way can be done easily plus the horsepower and torque would be more than halved.

This is a capacitor start induction  motor correct? If it is, I think its time to get another motor.      Muggs
