Hope all the moms on the FF have a great Mother's Day.

I proposed to my wife on May 8, Mother's Day 39 years ago and she will never let me forget it. Also granddaughter #2 is 8 y/o today.

Smiled about the additional celebrations close to, or on Mother's Day. My oldest son's wife has a birthday on Mother's Day, and it is also their wedding anniversary. Years after the fact, I believe this was pure genius on my daughter in laws part, because it's impossible for him to forget the date approaching. My son admitted yesterday that he often wakes and tells her "happy birthday" only to be told that it's their anniversary. :D

Our moms are both long gone mine in 1993 and Linda's in 2005, but we think of them often,.

One more addition to special days. At breakfast our 35 y/o daughter gave her mom her Mother's Day present. It was a picture of an ultrasound with grandchild #4 due in December.

In 2002 while visiting in a remote west African village, Rhumsiki, in Cameroon near the Nigerian border our guide took us to see the 80+ y/o Crab Socerer. You cross his palms with silver and he answers one question. Neither of our kids were married at the time but Becky asked him 'How many grandchildren will we have". He consorted with the fresh water crab in a pot full of rocks and broken pottery and finally said "You will have 4" then he pointed at Becky and said "but before the last one is born you will be walking with a stick." I guess that was to mean we would be old. Becky has some hip problems and limps a little sometimes so maybe he is spot on.

Happy Mothers day! My wife and I, both in our 60s still have our Moms, both in their 80s and today we will visit with both, a blessing for all.

I still miss being able to see or call mom on this day, she was my best friend. Roxie, I smiled at your story about your son. We got married on Karen's birthday, I don't DARE forget that one. :D
