I'm looking for a template or rules of thumb or something to help me figure out how I'm going to cut logs with my mill. I know there's a difference between quarter sawn and plain sawn but at this point, I don't think that really matters to me. Right now I'm just looking to one and two inch boards for projects like sheds and trailer beds, then I'll be looking for 4x4s for fence posts...
What am I cutting? fence posts will be Locus and trailer beds will either be Oak or Ash- not sure which would be better... but I do want to get the most out of the logs I'll be sawing. Anyone know of a post or reference dealing with templates I could draw on the ends to see what I'm cutting?
Thanks!!

See if this will work for you

When using the WooMizer I typicaly use the "Sawing for Grade"; very rarely do I quarter saw.
...on occasion I cut bar-tops or slabs, AKA "BIG HEAVIES"
