I feel your pain  :D

We've just booked a 3 week tour of the South Island, luckily staying at campgrounds with cabins.

But the challenge is going to get 3 weeks worth of packing , with 2 daughters, into my little hatchback. Could take the wifes wagon, with some more space, but the hatch is much nicer to road trip in.

Luckily it's summer so only light clothing going to needed.

We went camping a few months ago for 4 days, my wife and our 2 youngest completely packed out her mini-van...completely packed it out. I packed a small bag with clothes, 4 fishing rods and a tackle box.

I go backpacking 2x every year, on one trip we met a guy from WV that carries an 18 pk and a 5th of whiskey whenever he packs, now that is a dedicated drinker.

My idea of camping used to be 3 days in the bush, with EVERYTHING  you needed in a backpack, AND carrying a rifle. :D

But that's not the definition everyone uses.   :D

I didn't think there were any large predators where you live, or was the rifle for getting food?

Well she just got home, still lugging stuff!!! One good thing is if we get robbed while we are gone, they won't get nothing!!!!!!!  Don't even need to lock the house! ;D

We will be gone for two days next weekend, good thing we have a full size pickup. :D Actually she is pretty good about it, she doesn't get too carried away packing but needs the week to decide what to take then waits to the morning we leave to start. Drives me nuts. Fresh socks and skivvies, a clean shirt and I'm ready.

For food.

Deer, pigs, goats etc are considered introduced pests here, so it's open season on them all the time. ;)
