Busted hump today to get the mill up and running. Spent the better part of the day welding up the blade guide adjusters, then finished fabricating the guards. Got the track level then proceded to manhandle the carraige out of the basement and onto the track. Give me a cold one, that pig gained a few pounds since its infency. Son of a, I got no gas, off to get gas. Ok oils good, got gas, hook up jumper cables (no battery yet) and crank her NOW WHAT THE, gas pucking out the carb.  Pull plug plug breaks in two, no problem I got a spare. Crank it a few time to clear the gas out. Put in new plug and Theeeeennnnnn it runs. Whoops shut her down somthin's loose, motor (hey its been sittin for almost a year). Tighten it up and try again, yeh its purring nice. Shift thru the gears, thats right I got me a three speed plus reverse. Ok looks good, time to put the blade on. Again its lookin good, went thru the gears and crunch broke the chain dam!!! Well thats that, it was kinda loose. I should have tightened it but I was to happy to see it running for the few minutes it did. Anyway its gettin dark, I should get her up and cuttin tommorrow.

It sounds like Murphy's law caught up with you.(If anything can go wrong it will!!!)  I am also  trying to finish my mill, been trying to complete the blade guards for 2 weeks.  Just can't seem to find the time as we are also trying to harvest soybeans and corn.  Think we need a week or two of 30 hour days.  Good luck and I hope to see pics of you making lumber soon.

No its an old john deere rear engine mower frame mounted on a 4 poster set up. Still uses the clutch and brake set up. I got a 15hp vert briggs from a murry riding tractor. Didn't have the funds to get a horizontal and these were free the motor looks brand new I guess the guy who owned the mower couldn't keep the belts on it so he tossed it in the dump  ;D. I was going to use these recycled mowers for a racing lawn mowers but my other half didn't like the Idea of our boys doing 40 mph on a mower. Can't say I blame her. I had that deere screamin' about 30 mph and it scared the crap out of me  :o.
