So many people are addicted to their phones. I see police officers who are supposed to be directing traffic texting. What did we ever do when we actually had to talk to people?

If ISIS wants to cripple this country all they have to do is blow up a few cell towers and the young would not be able to function. I have seen them walk right into a wall while playing on their phones. I remember the days when you picked up a phone a voice would say, "operator" or "number please". How the Hell did we survive? lol

I think the phone manufactures , could program movement at a certain speed that would shut down the texting feature .

They could, but then they wont work for passengers, or on a bus / train etc.

The last 2 and a half weeks I have been on the missile defense sight, absolutely no phones, no cb's or company radios, infact no communication of any kind, it has been kind of refreshing.

For most of the summer while in in the trees we don't get cell service either. Love it! We just use our phone for music! helps give rhythm and break up the noise of the equipment

When we are logging we don't have any cell service, we do have cb 's to communicate to the loader though.
When I haul freight north, it is 450 miles between service, just cb's and big radios for communication. I do carry a satellite phone for emergencies anymore though.

They could still make a call with the texting shut down or text while the vehical was stopped at a station ,ETC .

RHP Logging

Lots of guys are getting divorced that I know of because of the phone or what it leads to.

My log truck driver for instance.  His wife said he never talked to her anymore.  He said how could I you're always on the phone!

My wife gets pist when I tell her to get off the phone, but it needs to be done.  I've found better ways to get her off of it because I fear she will go down the same path.  I'm not saying the constant facebooking and phone use is an end all but it sure doesnt help when there are underlying issues to deal with that don't get dealt with.  Fuel for the fire.

We are loggers by nature and at best , we spend little time with our wives , I'm on my third , all seems well , I can look at her phone anytime I want . We have had some hard times , when I'm away for a couple months on a job , mostly because we have six children together , in our combined family . we hac=ve been married for 10 years , my first wife was my fault , I worked way too much , and also worked way too much away from home it lasted 8 years and was my fault with out question . The second was a different story 14 years and four children latter , I got my children and full custody . The third is a charm .
