Hi Everyone,

Does anyone wrap their lumber before shipping it out and if so what do you use?  I used to shut down during the winter but not this year!  I deliver lumber to the manufactures in the area and I'd like to keep the salt and road junk off of it.  I thought about using tarps but there has to be a better solution out there.

Thanks!

I just received a catalogue in the mail from U Line. Google them. They have thousands of shipping solutions. I'm sure one will be right for you.

Used lumber wrap is a disposal issue for wood products companies.  I get folded wrap, by the pallet, for free.  I also purchase lumber wrap both commercially and at auction.  It keeps the water out of units and the lumber looks bright and clean.  I think it is a good thing.

I see pictures of sawmill yards littered with lumber in scattered piles.  Wood that is fully exposed to the weather.  That looks like a lot of value getting thrown away to me.  I still have a lot of lumber in the yard but it is protected.  Lumber wrap is a solution.

I always wrap my timbers before shipping.  I have a roll of lumber wrap but sometimes I recycle the wrap that comes on my timbers from the mill if it is still in good shape.   I also reuse the banding and buckles that come from the mill.  The first roll of wrap I got I ordered off the internet but now I just buy a roll from the mill and save on the shipping.
