I would like to buy new carb kits for my 260s. Went on amazon and ebay, 3.8$ for the kit or 13.75$ for a new carb?? that cant be right!  What brand is ok and which not?  I would like to buy original but couldn't find it.  The Stihl dealer here charges 40$ for each kit! I need 2 kits, but i want them to work as i use those saws professionally, any help?

The $13 carb will be an AM clone. They don't say a brand, normally. Sometimes they are stamped Hunai. I've used over 50 AM clones on Husky, Stihl, Poulan and only had 1 bad one.
RuiXing is a brand that is OEM on new Homelites and their quality seems lower than AM clones.
Husky: 372xt, 272xp, 61, 55 (x3)...Poulan: 315, 4218 (x3), 2375, 2150, 2055, 2000 (x3)...Stihl 011AVT...Homelite XL...Saws come in broken, get fixed or parted, find new homes

Yep, don't be scared of the aftermarket cheapie carbs.  I've used them exclusively so far and all sorts of small engines and always had good luck and good quality.  Can't beat em, especially for the price!

I found a guy on ebay that sells OEM walbro carb kits for 12$, so i think i will go with that.  Why would i want to buy a aftermarket carburator for 13-15$ if i have the original one and can just change the wear parts??  Or do carbs go bad over the time? Both saws are 12 years old.

Old carbs get varnished in tiny passages that you can't get clean. Main jet check valve gets damaged and you can't replace it. After you clean and install new gaskets, diaphragms, needle assy (and even cleaning under and replacing welch plugs) - there is no guarantee that carb will work. When a new AM carb is the same price as a kit - no brainer for me.

I've got 2 Zama carbs running right now.  They work perfectly and you can't tell the difference between them and factory carbs.  I'd buy a thousand of them with no hesitation.  Best money I ever spent, and it wasn't much anyways!

I prefer 2 regular slotted  H-L screws and not encased in limiters but may be possible here.
I've bought the Huztl Zama clone one before - good quality.

I need to say that the Zama carbs I'm using are on older engines that never had limiting screws on them when new.  I don't know about newer model replacement carbs if they would have limiters or not.  I would hope not.  Tired of the nanny state...

Finally changed both AM carbs and had some work in the plantations so it was the perfect time to try them out. I have to say i am impressed. they work perfect and i would say the saws are at 80-90% the power as when they were new. not bad for 12 years old saw, and they have been used a lot, professionally. I did the whole seals for compression on these two saws.

Thanks for all the help from the ff members

one of the saws is giving mi troubles.  when she is warm she will start and work fine but if i let her sit just for 5-10min she starts, run 1 second and then die??? ??? ??? to start her again i have to put the chocke in again pull ones and then pull 3times with half gas, like the normal starting procedure of every stihl saw. What could that be? The idle gas isnt to low as she revs quiet long after getting of high rpms

Maybe a pinhole in fuel line allowing gas to drain back out of fuel line?

I checked the gas line and there is no leak. Any other ideas?

How old are your fuel lines, it might just be time to replace then anyway. Did a gasket slip or get pinched or a bolt back out from the carb ?

The Fuel lines are 12 years old so i will change them. What do you mean with a bolt back out? If there are some loose bolts on the carb?

Finally had the time to change the fuel line (OEM for 9$) and tried the saw and problem solved!!!
I am impressed! such a easy fix. thanks Ox and delawhereJoe, i really appreciate.

Them darn fuel lines are a PITA sometimes.  They can look fine and aren't dripping any fuel, but the hairline cracks are there and will allow air to leak in, but not let fuel leak out.  Sometimes it's just worth it to first change the line, then look to carb problems.  Glad to hear it's working again.

You'r right, i didn't know that. I even pressure tested the double DanG thing and it holded up good. My guess would be that the end who goes on the carb was widened and has lost its elasticity and was not 100% tight.  Thanks for the help
