Jeff

I want to thank those of you that have helped represent the Forestry Forum by registering for the Tree of Hope Ornament auction.

Please take a moment here as a member to listen to my final thoughts on this. For those new members that dont know, the Tree of Hope was the tree we provided that stood in front of our Nations capitol. These are the ornaments that decortaed this tree, and the proceeds are going to charity.

Ada Takacs and I spent all of yesterday in Lansing going through boxes of ornaments and picking out the better ones and cataloging them to finish up this project. This was not our job, but we did it to try to get this project to end on an upbeat note. Some of the key components of this project simply did not live up to their agreement of support. Not to say that this has been a failure, because it has not, it just falls far short of at least my expectations. My family and I have spent all day today finishing the cataloging and photographing of these ornaments, and I will begin to add them to the auction after I rest my eyes for an hour or so.

The Forum support on this project has been a bright side, and it has been noticed by many. What I am hoping is that we continue this. The ornaments I am going to add in the coming days are the best that remain, and probably the best to date. There have not been a lot of folks register, but several bidders have bought numerous ornaments. Please, as Ron Scott mentioned in another thread, use this chance to get a piece of history and to show the people that are watching that this forum not only is a cool place to socialize, it also has the power to make a statement. We already know that, and many of the so called "powers that be" are beginning to notice this to.

All Auctions will end by the 20th of this month. All ornaments added beginning today are of the highest quality. (Many previous additions also).  Please, take the time to register if you have not already, and buy an ornament or two or three, they really are a pretty good deal.

Heck, if nothing else, use this as practice for when I bring the software to the forum for our use.

Thanks to all of you. :)

Jeff,
I would have been glad to schlep over to Lansing and help with the project!
To be supportive, I have placed a bid on an ornament. My reticence with the auction is that I make a lot of stuff myself. Also, Christmas seems to have lost some of the magic since my mother passed on.
But, you are one of the original GOOD GUYS, and I'm glad to help out.

Thanks Kim! I hope you win your auction. :)

Tammys Grandma died today. My Childrens Great Grandma. Its hard to lose a parent or a grand parent. I never had a grandparent to lose. Im my childrens case, because of the age that tammys side kicks out kids and the age they tend to live to, plus my parents, My childen have had 9 grandparents living at once. They are now down to 2. My Mom and Tammys Mom.

Tammy has been taking care of her granma Mary for the last couple years by visiting and grocery shopping and taking her to the Dr. twice a week. They were quite close. Christmas will be different this year for us as well.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Please give Tammy and your children my condolences.

When we are blessed with people we love, we also are blessed with the gift (or burden) of saying goodbye.
