I've seen a couple 380 grapple machines for sale in my area.
Both are older machines that appear to be in good shape.
Anyone had any good or bad experiences with them.
I'm going to look at them this weekend.
One has a Eaton winch and a cummins in it.
The other has a 453 and a gearmatic winch.
Work hard. Be rewarded.

Eaton and Cummins all the way!

The machine I tried today with the cummins in it was a good running machine.
But Had four leaking cylinders.
Steering cylinders need pins and bushings.
Was missing the driveshaft for the winch.
Not as good as it was made out to be.

for the right price those are easy fixes, cylinder rebuild kits are about 65$ a peice and take about an hour to reseal, pins and bushings are reasonable and theyre the drop in type. is it a c series machine?

Machine is a 1979.
They took out the Detroit and put in a cummins.
Swapped out the gearmatic winch for a Eaton. And never finished hooking it up.
So I never got to see the winch working.
Price is a little too high for needing all that work.
For a better price I would take care of the other issues.

The 230 e I looked at was a real nice machine.

I've got another 380 to look at next weekend.

I have narrowed my search down to a really nice rebuilt 240E cable machine.
A 380 dual arch grapple.
And a decent 225 cable machine.
The grapple 380 being my first choice and the 240E a close second.
The 240 is in a lot better shape and is the nicer machine by far.
The grapple machine gives me a lot more versatility with the clear cutting I need to do.
Hope to have a new machine by the end of the weekend.

Did yuo look at the 380 on the walnut job at Mt Vernon?   The guy from Aurora owned it.   If yes, what did you think of it?     LB

I looked at one in Clarendon Vt and one in Uncasville ct.
I decided to go with a 240E that was basically rebuilt.
I bought it today.
It should be at my place next Saturday.
