Is it helpful to use wood from the "base" of the tree.  If you play it too loud, you might get in "treble" with your wife or the niece.  not to toot your "horn" too much, those look nice.

I went with stiff cones and to move a lot of air they needed to be big diameter. Crisp sound thunder, not like mushy home theater subs. A high quality preamp and 6000 watt main, restricted frequency amplifier.HEAVY!!!!

I listen to obscure alternative 60's to 80's stuff at elevated volume to decompress from work. Not for everyone,,,,,,,very relaxing to me when the windows flex as long as the thump is clean. 8)

The equipment has provisions to tailor the sound qualities for a  smooth transition from highs to lows. My wife was very surprised  that at high volume the sound is clean and individual instruments seem to come from nowhere in space. The "little"mid/ high speakers next to the base units are 4 feet tall and weigh 158 pounds each and are driven with their own massive amp.The mid/lows are about 300 pounds each. I built the wall behind the the equipment with nails , glue and rockwool covered in burlap. I designed the floating shelves for airflow and strength.

it is a neat group out of NYC and they take modern songs and do them in an older style.  great vocals and instrumentation at the same time IMO.  they actually played in our historic Fox theatre in Hutchinson.  you can look on you tube for lots of other songs if you like.  Post Modern Jukebox.

I've been married to an audiologist for 18 years.  Those don't look like any hearing aids I've ever seen.
