Came across this read . These are the journals written on the day based on his experiences  in the woods around Woodstock New Brunswick.  Just as a heads up some of the  terminology might be offensive ... a reality of that time period.

Found it on my Kindle, see what we will see.  I have a book on travels in New Foundland that was published in the '20's that delves into the hunting and nature of the area.

I don't seem to do much book reading lately but I may have to check these out.

One I have enjoyed is The Tent Dwellers by Albert Bigelow Paine about a canoe/fishing trip in the interior of Nova Scotia in the early 1900's. I have canoed most of the trip route and tented at some of the same camp sites as the book.

There are many Mike Parker books, he is another historical author that I have enjoyed.

The Electric City (New France) is another book I found interesting.

There are 3 good books by Gerry Parker. The first two are about hunting mostly and fishing from a guide outfitter's perspective from the late 1800's into the 1960's. A third book was on early N.B. forestry. Gerry Parker worked with the Canadian Wildlife Service and is from N.S.

The first two are:
'Men of the Autumn Woods'
'Beyond the Trodden Path'

And the third is:
'Workin' in the Woods, Toil for Timber in Early N.B.'

We have the 'Tappan Adney' book also.

Another great book (2015) was written by Nicholas Guitard about the naturalist William Ganong 'The Lost Wilderness'. I walked, paddled or drove to many places mentioned in that book. My grandfather always called the upper Tobique and the upper Miramachi rivers, the Lost Wilderness as far back as I can remember. So the book title is nothing new to me. That was our stomping grounds. :) Of course the book goes beyond those drainages, but they are the most significant ones to forestry and fishing and hunting with guides. My grandfather, for instance, guided on the Restigouche for the Dead River company, before the Irvings bought their holdings. My grandfather never liked the Irvings from then on, they are NB's biggest bums. :D
