air drying maple

hi everyone interested in air drying maple.how should it be stickered and piled.have tried atime or two before but ended up with a bunch of cupping and twisted lumber.any suggestions would be great .thanks

A certain amount of cupping seems inevitable in the thinner 1x stuff particularly in the outer layers of the tree........at least in soft maple (silver)

More weight on top of the stack can reduce cupping and twisting while drying... Think LOTS of weight, heavy concrete blocks or another stack of wood. I have had some luck with making the top 1/2 of the stack out of easy drying species, and letting that weigh down the twisty stuff on the bottom.
Some people use heavy cargo strops with ratchets to hold down the stack and tighen them up every day to keep the pressure on.
