We had a rather severe storm with strong winds earlier this week, doesn't happen very often, which snapped off a Ponderosa pine in the neighbor's yard. It landed on the house punching holes in the kitchen ceiling. Fortunately he was outside as he is quite elderly, deaf and can't move very fast. His daughter heard the crack, raced in and yelled at her mother to get out. The house is still livable, the roof was patched but it will be some time before the insurance company will have it fixed properly. If it had gone the other way our house might have been the casualty. :o
