Does anybody have any information on any edgers made by Foley/Belsaw?  I got a call last night, guy has a "planer" I may be interested in, come get it. I started not to go (just bought a 20" planer). Went anyway and in an estate he bought, there are two Foley/Belsaw edgers. No model numbers, no power attached to either. 12" X 1 1/12" insert blades. One moveable blade mounted on each and two extra blades.  One 5HP single phase motor (not mounted).  Two wooden frames with 10' sections of roller track. All in very good shape with no rust.
I'll get some pictures tomorrow when I pick them up, but now I got a few questions; Any ideas on motor size? Where to find a manual? Pictures of assembled units? Price?
Thanks,
WW

Hope I did this right, if not look for old woodworking machines.

By the way, if you get more of them tham you can handle, pretty sure we can help you out.

You might check with TimberKing...sponser on the left.  They sold the Foley Belsaw circle mill until a few years ago, so they might have info on the edger, or be able to point ya in the right direction.

Are you thinking of buying both of the edgers? If not, what about the other one?

i have one of those my dad bought it way back in 1978 (i think) i bought it a couple years ago.dad ran itwith a 10 hp three phase electric motor..it was way over powered.i don,t have it running yet but,i plan on trying a 5 hp gas motor.i had one just sitting around so,i figured i,de try it.if its under powered i,ll get a 8 hp gas for it.i think that would be plenty.
YES;timberking can help you with it.i emailed with them a year or so ago.they can tell you about it and at the time they did still have a few parts left.
i,ll take a pic of it today and post the pic later today or tomorrow.

UNCLEBUCK

I have a edger like that ,pics in my album somewhere . It came with a one lung wisconsin motor but I put a 4 cylinder wisconsin on it with a throttle , am guessing on power but the man I bought it from said the one lung wisconsin went through white oak with no trouble . I suppose I am around 30?horsepower now.

Thanks for the replies folks and thanks to Mike Alexander at Timberking.
I've found out this should be a model 802. It should have around 30HP and 3" capacity.  Now all I need is some time to clean it up and a motor. Funny thing about this sawmilling, ain't nobody every come out and said that the mill you buy is just a "starter kit"!
Thanks again

I have a edger that looks just like the one in the photo.  It is an 802.  We haven't gotten it mounted and running yet but don't like much.  Timberking has some parts but some they don't.  I ordered some belts and had to go to Fort Knox to get enough money to pay for them.  The speed reducer pulley assembly on mine was bad so I ordered a pulley but it came with no bushing. I reordered it and they put me on backorder for months. I finally called and stopped the order.  Somewhere I have a manual so if you need a copy, let me know.  It is best to reply via my normal email address.

woodwalker,  I have one of those, but never got around to setting it up.  I do however have the manual for it.  I sent highpockets a copy some time back and see he has offered you a copy of it it he can find it :D.  I have that problem too sometimes.  If he can't find his pm me and I will get you a copy.

I think what we have is a slightly newer version of that machine, it is running a 10hp single phase motor with 3 blades, most of the stuff we run though is only 1/2" inch so it does a great job.

I just bought an 802 edger and was wondering if there are any manuals or any info out there for these machines. I think I have everything with it.  Looks complete minus power supply. The saw teeth look to be in good shape, but is there anywhere that sells these.  Would like to have some good photos of one of these to just compare setup. Thanks
