Hi all. My mill has an adjustable scale to which I have mounted a sight glass pointer with a 1/16" slot cut out.

My question is once I set the blade deflection and check for flatness, what portion of the blade should I be measuring to, to set the scale.

Measuring up with a square from a bunk 6", would that be to the bottom, middle or top of the back of blade? Or should I measure to the tips of the bottom set teeth?

I guess the root question is how do I adjust my scale so it cuts a finished 6"??

It should be the lower tips of the teeth.  It should measure what is left on the bunk.  Do a test cut and adjust the scale so it is correct.

Just cut a cant 6" or so. carefully measure how thick it is. Carefully set the pointer to your measured height. Done.

The danger with that method would be band deflection and stress in the cant causing uneven results.  The most accurate method is to measure the distance between a down set tooth, and the top of your log deck, this will give you the exact measurement you want to set your pointer to.
