Had time to play with mill yesterday cut up one nice red oak log and one ugly oak crotch it had been down a couple of years turned out most every slab was split , broke a blade when it tried to crawl off mill  stopped in cut next time it moved  , took darn near an hour to back out blade , at <bleast it did not break .

I have found that oak crotches split after sawing.  Unlike some other woods like walnut.
