Moisture content of wood pre kiln drying
« on: July 22, 2019, 04:02:15 PM »
I have walnut, cherry and oak air drying.  At what moisture content do they need to be down to before moving into solar kiln for drying?  Most of my wood is red and white oak.

Under 35% MC is a good target for the wettest piece, assuming the kiln is not available sooner.  The VT was designed for soaking wet oak 4/4 lumber, but drier is ok.
