I started getting the idea when I read through a previous post from this year.
IM your guess to me and I'll put all the correct answers into a hat for a drawing. The winner will get an FF Hat (if procurable...) and I will make a donation to the FF in your name. Entries have to be in by midnight on 10/27. The only clue I'm giving is in the paragraph above, but this should be easy....

This was also my first attempt at MIG welding Aluminum, and it turned out great......

I really appreciate the enthusiasm and replies, and some good guesses- but you guys are ruining the contest for those that are following the rules (some of you already have an FF Hat, I know). IM your guess to me to enter the drawing

Okay guys, you've got me in a conundrum. There have been several correct answers in my IM, but also here on the post (I give up; it really is a Pumpkin Carving station..... NOT!). Should I include the correct answerers from the thread in the drawing? I'm leaving it up to you.

most of us who did not read or follow the directions are the old folks, i would be fine if some if the IM folks are newer members, and they get a prize.

What were the rules as stated in your original post?  To be fair to the ones that followed the rules, I'd say that you must abide by them.

It's not the hat, it's the correct guess that makes these things fun. Like bass fishing, catch it and let it go.

I fell into the group who didn't read carefully, and also the group of "old" people.  Either way, it was fun, and I'll send official Hobby Hardwood hats as a consolation prize :D :D to the guys who posted the correct answer, want a hat, but didn't do it in an IM.

I guess I better withdraw my IM answer, as I am too old to deserve or qualify for a hat.  Then, again, maybe I got the wrong answer anyway.

YH will send me the wrong answer?

P.S.  I am amazed to see the excellent aluminum welding job, even if my guess was wrong.  I think now that why I might have missed the correct answer Is because the unknown object was the black thingys holding the frame for a cotton gin up off the ground.

We have a winner; scsmith42 (Scott) was drawn out of a hat by my daughter Stephanie,  who is also a "remarkable" (literal meaning) Pumpkin Carver/ Sculptress.
Here's a pic with the sled and router mounted. I included a round rail that runs through the guides in the router base to lock the router in one lateral position to enable the longitudinal pass that was recommended in the aforementioned post.
Gene, those black contraptions are called "Saw- horses", and I used store- bought ones for this project, because I want to break it all down when not in use (hence the use of light weight alloy for the frame). Thanks for the nice things you said about the welds, as I was quite surprised myself.
I'm embarrassed to say that I sent Jeff a private email asking how to get hats; he answered with a thorough explanation- but I still can't find the link (I'm pretty sure he thinks "Mental midget Doctor" when he deals with me :D).
Again, thanks to everyone for making this a fun event. Remember (to the several correct answers above, and all 150 IM respondents) to IM your address to YellowHammer for a free hat! Thanks YellowHammer!

Congratulations!  @Stephen1 and @LeeB get free, official, autographed, Hobby Hardwood hats.  If they send me their addresses, I'll mail them out.  See, sometimes it pays not to follow instructions.   :D :D

I also think @WDH gets a hat, because, the rig COULD be used to carve a pumpkin.

Yes haw, thanks Steve (and many thanks to Stephanie!).

As soon as I saw your photo I thought to myself that it would make a great router sled; glad to learn that I hit the nail on the head.

Just curious, but how many of the 150 responses got it right?

Ps - Yellowhammer, you're welcome to send one of those "HH" hats up to NC too (and I concur about Danny qualifying for a consolation prize too!). (Grin)
