Motor and gear reducer assembly
« on: July 29, 2019, 06:07:11 AM »

I have read, understand, and agree to the terms of posting an ad on the Forestry Forum.
I built a sawhead advance system consisting of a small DC motor and gear reducer. As it turned out it was underpowered for my mill so I replaced it with a more powerful unit so now I am offering the original for sale for $100 or best reasonable offer plus shipping. (Unit weighs 23 lbs)

Here are the specs:

Motor is made by RAE Corp, 12 to 24 VDC, 1750 – 4200 rpm, torque 2.56 in lbs.

Gear reducer is made by Brother, 100:1 gear ratio, model SP HOB-9269

Unit measures 16.5 inches long and pivot points are 8.5” apart.

Sprocket measures about 1.75” dia and accepts a #40 chain.

It could be used as is or disassembled and repurposed for a sawhead advance or a head lift depending on weights involved.

(As manufactured the gear reducer has a vent hole which I thought would admit water if it rained while milling outside so I inserted a copper tube to prevent water entry.)
