It is with great sadness that I need to withdraw my  name from the attendee list.   I really enjoyed last years project.    Gene's (and K-Man's) discussion on drying as always was great and Yellow Hammers sycamore sawing techniques were awesome.     But for me the best thing was the socializing with all of the other FF members that were there.   I had a really great time and was looking forward to being there again.

Anyone that has been following my Facebook feed should know that the wife and I are deep into a major renovation of our 1875 plantation house.  We have been doing most of the work ourselves and initially worked at it on a fairly casual pace taking time off to do things that we enjoy.   Our original plan for this year was for an extended trip with the camper to Alaska.  However, after some deep thoughts I came to the conclusion that if we didn't get the house finished first, we would never get it finished.   So I proposed we delay our Alaska trip until next year and commit to being completely finished with the house by the end of this year.   As of today we have 4 rooms (2 upstairs & 2 downstairs) nearly completely stripped to the studs that still need some structural repairs, electric, plumbing for 2 bathrooms, insulation, drywall and all the finishing stuff like paint, flooring and trim.   Then, when those are done we have two more rooms that need the same, with less structural issues anticipated.

On top of all of this, we have a 2nd house about an hour and half from us that our son has been renting.   He has decided its time for him to buy his own place and we are expecting him to move out early spring.   Since we have no desire to become landlords and rent the place to anyone else, we will be doing some renovation and repairs to get it ready to sell.   Because of the travel distance this will probably take at least 6 weeks out of the remodeling time on our place here.

Both the wife and I will be at the Logging Expo in Richmond ( https://www.vfpa.net/expo-2020 ) the 1st weekend in May and  hope to catch up with some FF member there.   We'll be hanging out at the Logrite booth.

The count is now back down to 74

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum My name is Ronnie Parrish I am from Baytown TX just east of Houston TX. My main business is furniture restoration and woodworking. I have a logmaster sawmill and have been working on setting up a older nyle kiln in doing so I have had many conversations with Stan at Nyle trying to get all of the kinks worked out of the kiln. Stan is who recommended I check out the group and the sawing project 2020 it sounds very interesting if it is okay I would like to attend

Can anyone recommend a close hotel to stay at?

At the junction of Interstate 16 and Hwy 441 in Dublin, GA, there are a number of them there.  About 6 miles from Jake's place.

We stayed at the Days Inn by Wyndham last year.  We have stayed in them other places and they were fine.  I definitely would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

we often stay at the holiday inn express places, and so I stayed there, but not worth the price based on the limited time spent there, with all the goings on at Jake's.

Were set up to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Dublin. Weve always had good service there so well see how it plays out. After looking at the link RT put up in previous post the prices vary quite a bit.
