Disston shanks and bits
« on: June 10, 2020, 12:24:40 PM »
This has probably been covered in the past, but I wanted a few thoughts on why none of the circular saw blade manufacturer's don't offer a replacement bit and shank that fits circular saw blades that are out of production.
I'm not just talking about the well known "mysterious disston" stuff, but some of the other blades that you can't get stuff for, like Hoe & co. or others?
I understand patten laws and copyrighting, but I see a lot of folks (me included) that would like to be able to use the equipment we have, but can't due to not having parts.
What's your thoughts???

I have a couple of different blades, but the one I would like to have serviced is a 52" with, what is marked on the shank, as no.2, shanks and teeth.
I sent a sample to Minnomee saw, but was told the " bad news" so I look from time to time for anything I can find.
I have seen recently in eBay, some Disston stuff, but none like mine.
It would be interesting to know how many people have the same problem as I. I guess it seems like a lot when you are one of a group looking for the same thing.
I also have a blade with Disston "C" shanks, and one marked "66" which I believe is a Disston number.

Even finding info on those blades, bits & shanks is elusive,

I hope you have another blade with a current pattern

good luck.

No. 2 stuff has been on e bay but it is rare. The disston bits and shanks I have are 'B'. Did you try B.F. Payne?

Oh yeah, I haven't had any luck. I'll keep looking, but don't have high hopes.
