You got some strange trees UP there that we don't have.  If it were from here,  I'd say persimmon. :)

Been running through ideas and nothing I come up with looks right in my minds eye.
For some reason I keep thinking Hickory.
Is it birch ???

I thought of Aspen or Poplar as the smaller knots look just like the stuff I have, what is throwing me is the bark/knot in the cover.

Jeff

Beenthere is right there. The box was made from this stick right here.

From this thread:
https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=8144.0

The box is just short of 9 inches long 5 inches wide and 3.5 inches high. The chunk of wood was only 2.5 inches by 1 inch by 40 inches long.  We let the wood decide the size of the box. :)  It was really fun putting it together. The wood made all the decisions. No drawings and no plans. Just started measuring and cutting.

Looks good to me!
What ya plan to use it for?

Jeff

Dunno, we put a red cedar chip bottom in it to smell good.  Not sure what to store in it. Maybe I'll have to make a smaller box to keep in it next time I go ta Chet's.

Must be a pain having to go that far to make a little wooden box.  ::)
I have to barrow tools all the time too, but they are only a 10 minute drive from me.  ;D

Wowwee, I love boxes.

I have no idea what the wood is, but it sure is gorgeous.

I think that if you open the box and put your ear to it, it'll whisper gently to you... "I need to go on a loooong trip...  Send me to Australia"...

Oh, and I'd be sure happy to look after it on it's visit...  :D
