Just before Christmas my Hilti Combi Hammer, percussion drill/handheld jackhammer, went down under severe abuse. I called and got a shipping label and sent it in to the repair center with a note inside saying we were abusing it and there was plenty more to come, please go through it completely and repair/replace anything that looked at all suspect. I went ahead and ordered a big electric jackhammer to get us through and take the heaviest pounding off the Hilti.
It came back within a week with a 2 page list of replaced parts, and no bill. This is the third rebuild over the years, the others were minor front end work, I've used it hard and it is a pretty amazing tool. The repairs have always been reasonable and fast in my opinion. In my credit card statement this time there was still no bill so I just got off the phone. I had called to let them know they had not billed me, figured it fell through the cracks during the holiday crush, and to settle up.
The service operator saw the order and repair tickets and had me hold while he checked. He got back on and said "This one is on us, no bill". I'm floored, that was several hundred dollars of labor and materials and I let him know that. He said "Happy New Year!" They certainly are not cheap tools but needless to say I'm sold.
