LT70 diesel regen
« on: January 09, 2021, 02:38:44 PM »
Regen pops up at the most inconvenient times.  First time I had the mill in the part doing mx on it.  This time I was fixing to saw a Red Oak.  Can I saw logs while in regen?  I tried calling Woodmizer and my dealer and it seems everyone goes to lunch at the same time.

My 2019 tier 4 yanmar 55 hp does a "running regen", a red icon  comes on on the display and you can smell the hot exhaust, yes can run the mill as usual during that time.    There is also a stationary regen which i have never seen  yet in 569 hours which if it makes you start that 20 min process you cant saw during that.

No, I've never seen sparks or anything else come out of the muffler on regen.  Just a smell.  Nothing more.

Mine usually wants to regen when I am wanting to quit for the day. Doesnt cycle thru unless the blade is engaged so I take the blade off and let it do its thing. I called wood mizer and asked if there was a function that would bring the engine to full throttle without engaging the blade . No was their answer and I told them there should be.

You could try un coupling the auto clutch motor at the connector, then the band would not be turning.

Did I read somewhere not to run the mill with the blade off.  I was ticked off today and I needed to load and turn a 20 foot 4 log and the blade was just too close to log movement while in regen.  So I came in and read some emails.

Only regens I have seen is full load needed.  So I turn on the clutch and spool up the rpm.

Also, title typo error.  I have a LT40, not a LT70

Mine usually wants to regen when I am wanting to quit for the day.
I read the engine manual and as I understand it, there are several regen cycles that can be completed.

If I want to shut down for the day in a regen mode, I just bring the engine to idle for a short time while I clean up the days mess, let everything cool down, and turn the engine off.

The next morning, as soon as the engine warms back up, the regen mode automatically restarts and I finish it then.

Ive been doing it this way for 18 months and Ive had no problems.

Ive been doing it this way with my Tier 4 New Holland for 5 years and no problems, either.
