Just found out there is a for sale page here... hope I get this right.

FOR SALE: Very unique light fixture for your great room!

This is a skin-on-frame kayak that I built several years ago. It is a fully functional kayak but, being skin-on-frame, they are a little fragile. I only used it a few times and had a bright idea (pun intended) to see how it looked all lit up. This is a picture with just a few flashlights laying in the bottom. A little wiring and a few LED lights and it would make an awesome lighted piece hanging in the rafters of your cabin.

It is almost 19 feet long and weighs about 30lbs. It is made of ash with traditional pegged and lashed ribs.

If that were within more reasonable driving distance I would love it. To safely pack and ship that thing would be a nightmare

Yeah, I really wish I had a place for it. I'll be building an outdoor pavilion in a few years but hanging outside it would just get covered with bird droppings an become a home for wasps.

I suppose you can ship anything but I have to think shipping costs would double the price. Since it really is one-of-a-kind I know it's probably worth it to the right person... it's just finding that person.

Oh, and here it is fresh from the shop.

A real beauty! I'll bet she's fast and smooth in the water and effortless to paddle. Ever think of using it as a mold for a fiberglass version? Fiberglass would be way heavier but could take the knocks. I've got a 50 year old fiberglass whitewater kayak that is still serviceable though it doesn't like rocks anymore. I'd buy that in a heartbeat if I had a place to hang it.

It actually has a fiberglass skin with a two-part urethane finish. The gunnels and cockpit coaming are ash. All the rest is cedar. Definitely not a whitewater boat. Its a Greenland style frame with hard chines so it wants to to one way... straight! And yeah it is a fast boat. I just never got into sea kayaking... most of my quiet water boating is on small streams with a canoe.
