Today was the second day in a row for us for a fire. Yesterdays high was 42 with rain today 48 and cloudy. The same NW wind both days. Split some wood today - no black flies.

I might run out of wood!!!
Looks like low 40's in the morning and not even 60 for a high.

Got mine fired up again, didn't even get to 50 here. Rain since 11 and all day tomorrow.  Not good weather for newborn fawns.

I managed to get the Cub Cadet up into the woods this morning.

I was going after a large red maple branch that blew down some time back.

The wood was sound so I cut it into 16" rounds.

All loaded up and ready to head for home.

It was a very pleasant morning in the woods. The ground has dried out and there were no bugs.

It's really amazing how many limbs and trees fall around here for no apparent reason. I was sitting on the back porch the other day and heard a crash on the other side of the creek so walked over to look and a fairly large limb had fell out of a big white oak. Had leaves on it so it wasn't dead. Wasn't a bit windy either. If my land had easier access I believe I could cut enough dead trees and blow downs to meet most of my firewood needs. When the ash trees were dying it wasn't safe to walk through the woods. Problem is most of them just rotted being I'd need a helicopter to get them off the hill.

June is a nice time of the year up here, not real hot and all that fresh new greenery. Been a cool work week here, 60's and low 70's, some showers. Be a good week to cut wood.
