Blinded by the Light. Made popular by Manfred Mann's Earth band, but written by Bruce Springstein. Springstein's version is very pale compared to the Earth band. There was a bit of controversy around the lyric "wrapped up like a douche", originally written as "Revved up like a Deuce" (as in Deuce Coupe).
The addition of the drummer's voice-over at the end of the song made a huge difference in it for me.

I was a DJ in the 80's, playing for school dances, weddings, community parties, and a night club. (yes, all vinyl albums; dual turntables with a mixer - no CDs) There were two songs guaranteed to get any older crowd up (70yrs old and up today): Break it to me Gently by Juice Newton and Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress by the Hollies. The younger crowd (my generation) would always respond to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd and a few songs by AC/DC (e.g. Back in Black), Queen, or Van Halen (e.g. Jump).

Personally, I use Amazon music. I have a playlist of about 1,000 songs of most genres. Downloaded to my phone, so I can shuffle (the songs that is) anywhere I go.

Well 45 years after it came out (1973) and was popular for a while I actually had the pleasure of meeting Louden at a festival I was working at. Really nice guy. 6 Months later I saw him do his one man show at a local club and it was terrific. His kids are artists too and most enjoyable.
I have resisted posting here because I know once I get going I have a hard time stopping. Especially when it comes to artists I have gotten to know.
I don't know about any one else but I think you should let em rip. :)

Hard for me to state a favorite song, group or artist. Nearly all that have been on this post so far, are very easy listening for me. Maybe because of sheer number of good songs, The Beatles, Elton John, and Supertramp rise to the top for me. I enjoy nearly every Supertramp song they published from '74 to '87. Big country fan as well - just not as many with a huge library of songs I like. This has always been a favorite of mine (Live version - no official video of this one)

OK, I am still practicing restraint, so here is my one for the day. Not quite retro, and many of you folks won't know this music I expect. This is more likely 'musician's music', but I know these guys particularly the Banjo player, who I call a friend, and the bass player who I call 'something special'. Vic is one of the top bass players in the world and this might show you why. The video is in two parts because, well, I dunno. The 'best part' is in the second video to my mind. When Vic breaks that string and how he moves on blew me away. The I met him and asked him this incident. He said he doesn't recall it at all, it happens all the time and he just works his solo out with what he has. OK, Yeah, sure. Anyway, it's always been on the top of my list. I have seen them do this tune several times live and it is different every time.

OGH,

Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Jerry Douglas, and Mark O'Conner were a fantastic combo.  Strength in Numbers.

As far as banjo players go, Bela Fleck must be from another planet.
