How about New songs by old Artists?

Johnny Cash - Hurt (Official Music Video) - YouTube

or Old songs by New artists.

Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence [Official Music Video] - YouTube

I'm 1/2 way through Dave Grohl's autobiography that I got for Christmas, as a self taught musician, he's amazing.

I've got 2 or 3 of Johny's albums from his last efforts. He struggles for sure because he's pretty weak voiced by then. It's more talk'n than singing.

True, but the "Hurt" song and video don't suffer from it. The guy that originally wrote the song said "It's now Johny's song"

The music itself carries him, take that away and poor Johny .......well I won't disrespect the man. By then, he is less of himself.

Dunno, go and watch  the Hurt video again.

The original was a little known Punk Rock song  by Nine Inch Nails, about addiction.

Cash  himself said that if he had been born  20 years alter, he would have been in one of those Punk  or Grunge bands. He was a rebel back in the day.

I grew up (still up for debate) listing to my older brothers and sisters albums so my favourites were 8 to 10 years old compared to other kids my age, I seem to have bypassed the metal craze and went from Beatles, Stones, Who, Floyd, Hollies, Queen, Ten Years After kind of stuff to Dire Straits, U2, Tom Petty, SRV with a bit of Willy Nelson and Dwight Yoakam and Clash mixed in.

So pretty much everything except disco and death metal. :D

Way back in my day many years ago kids, we used to carry wheels of thousands of feet of little brown shiney ribbon, encoded with magnetic music on it. It was a thing we called "Cassette Tape". :D smiley_guitarist

Got any reel to reel? :D 8-track, records, cassette, CD...my late dad was an electronics repair man his entire life, we had every form of recorded music device there was. I still have his antique wind-up Edison phonograph with the extra-thick records.

Not on me, but I do remember them in school. Some classes we had audio/visual lessons. The visual was slides. Even remember reel to reel film, we used to have a film day. Mother used a dicta-phone in the hospital in the 60's before tape recorders. It was on disks or record type things. ;D  Grampa had the first tape recorder around here. He erased as much as he recorded. :D   I've got boxes of brand new 5-1/4" floppies and computers and drives that run them, still working. ;D
