I just picked up at the butcher 130 lbs of venison (deer) hot dogs. We did the same last year with Moose. I can't stand to eat a store bought hot dog sense we started making these. Food from the land. Love it.

Good for you Moosehunter. Myself, I don't eat hot dogs, period. I don't like to eat something that I don't know where it came from, and most hotdogs you don't want to know where they came from. Your venison dogs sound pretty good though.  ;)

You guys just haven't had a good hotdog, shame.  ;)

Well, I've eat lots of hot dogs.  I've got a theory that Hot Dogs are GOOD for ya!  Yep, exactly what I said.  Now, I'm sure this requires a explanation.  The fact is that everybody knows that hot dogs are full of preservatives and the like.  So I figure if ya eat enough of em you'll wind up living forever.  ;D

A local German Butcher shop makes fresh hot dogs ( weiners) and that are DANG good tasting, no more ball park dogs for me.....

I never had venison dogs, I 'll bet that are quite flavorful.

Sorry, no recipe. Hot dogs are the only part of a Deer I do not process myself. The shop that does the hot dogs uses the meat we supply mixed 50/50 with pork that he butchers himself. No preservatives, just good eatin' 8)

Where are the hot dogs on a deer  ???  :D

Teri, I'm worried about ya.  That's probably what's wrong with yer stomach, ya ain't got enough preservatives and dye and chemicals and stuff in it.  Rounded meals of hot dogs, bologna, potted meat, and Vienna sausage ought to fix ya up in no time! :)  Now and then be sure and throw in some slaw, pickles, mustard, peppers, Chile, stuff like that! :)

Spam on the grill (or a forked stick over a fire) I don't like hotdogs, they give me heartburn, my brother worked at a processing plant that makes some of the best smoked hams and turkeys I ever ate. He said "Never eat a hotdog, I see what went in them" He was on the kill floor with a giant Swede that called him "Nancy" the whole time they worked together. My little brother is 6'2" and very strong for the 200 lbs he carries, but he said the Swede would hammer strike with his fist big boars and knock them flat when the high voltage killer probe didn't work. I don't know the guys name my brother just called him "The giant Swede who calls me Nancy". One day some biology students from University of Illinois came down to get pig blood for experiments since they  have many similar organs and such. My brothers coworker told the student to get real close to the live pigs neck with a little test tube for the sample. Then he hooked the jugular pulled it out and ruined the poor girls lab coat (and day cause she got sick).
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Speaking of hotdogs... ::)    Haytrader has introduced the best hotdog relish EVER to me & Norm. I am on my 3rd case now, and I just discovered this stuff at Christmas time! A lady down by him makes the best Jalopena Mustard in the world! I eat it on everything...hotdogs, chicken nuggets, in deviled eggs, fish, tarter sauce, it is the best stuff in the world. Everyone I give it to (I bought 2 cases of little jars to give away ;)) calls back to get her number to order more.  I think this lady is on to something big!  8)

My favorite is hot ranch or hot rasberry!
Butter and garlic wings are good too but I tend to eat them for a few days! ::)

As long as we are on food, years back I used to spend some time around the Fox River out side Chicago, in an area that had a high Scandanavian Luthern populations.  They would have sunday smorgasborgs with a lot of the old stuff that Swedes, Nords, and Danes like.  BOY WAS IT GOOD!  And cold Hamm's.  All the pickled and salted meat ya could want, all the pastries, all the salads.  Onliest thing I used to like about Illinoise was that food, and my family that lived there.  Too flat and too much corn.
