Bought another skidder. John Deere 440?

Ya I have a sickness..I keep buying equipment.  

I found this 440, I think it's just a 440 and not an A but I could be wrong.  The serial number starts with 440BA012xxxw.

Needs a waterpump and the centre pins are loose but it works well and has been indoors for the last 20 years.

I'm working a cedar growth with my C5 treefarmer so this will be nice to have as well.

I just bought this 🤷‍♂️ 1100hrs, had the leads and a set of torches, on the trailer, 305 Ranger diesel. The deals are out there. Slowly building my mobile shop.

its no newer than an A if an a it will have the 219 ci motor the straight 440 had a smaller diesel or gas.

Another question, the centre pins are sloppy, I haven't pulled it apart yet but was wondering if the hole are egged out and it needs a line bore has anyone tried getting 2 ears laser cut and weld them into place instead of line boring?  I can get them cut very cheap - was thinking to install with new pins, cut the old ears off, push into place and re weld...anyone try that?

the top center pin may not be that bad. the bottom one will need attention. another thing that can be trouble is where the front axle pivots. if it is not greased a lot the bolt breaks then the pin comes out. i see the frame broke in the usual spot.. the pto lever is missing. its for the winich. if the cast axle hubs were replaced and glued on you should be ok.

Back in the late 1980's/ early 1990's I did a lot of work on Timberjack centers. We used to get a part from Timberjack called a weldment, it was just a machined collar with the outside edges tapered so you could weld it in. I'd torch out a hole enough for it to fit in then weld it in, grind it flat and drop in a new self aligning bushing and Bob's your uncle! It was fast and easy and worked great because with the self aligning bushings it didn't have to be perfect square. I used a magnet to hold it flush just the same. Not sure what Deere used for bushings may not work for you.

 Aftermarket parts or rightparts have good part sheets on the website for all the old bushings and pins for skidders as well as other items. It's worth checking out.

A 60 series is the landcruiser that you see in the picture. Normally a wagon, this one looks like a hybrid. Brilliant.
