John Deere 490 Fabtek Swing Box Seal Gone Maybe Fill With Grease??

Guess it could be possible.Wouldn't see any reason for it to be made of stainless steel.When you get gearbox out you will have a lot better idea what is going on.Don't think seal would have came out for no reason plus it would have had to gotten past pinion gear.No matter what happened gearbox won't hold oil and has to come out to repair it.Sorry,hopefully not to bad a job .

PS l would like to know what you find if you don't care.If you swing machine until gearbox is directly over bottom cover you might be able to see pinion gear and seal area with a good light but probably not very good.

Is this a 50ton machine? then it's probably a bigger job.

anything under 20tons it's not that hard to get the swing motor and gear box out

I'm not sure exactly just guessing somewhere in the 15ish ton range probably.
