my kiln is built but i don't have fans yet. can i use the box to keep my wood out of the weather until I've fabbed up and installed the fan baffle? maybe for just a week or 2 or would that be bad for the wood?

As long as the wood is not green you should be fine.

Green lumber in a solar kiln w/o airflow will mold pretty extensively.

you can cover the roof with a tarp and then it is just a shed.  you could get cheap box fans for some air movement.

This...

If the wood is air dried (under 20%) then it won't grow mold or fungus, even if there is no airflow. But if it's still green, better to leave it outside until you get the fans hooked up.
