Hi folks

Had to replace the 172 gasser in my TJ200 this past fall. I dont want to talk about why!

Got a nice donor from a ford tractor and swapped it in without issue. Now the clutch is giving me grief. Wont disengage even with proper adjustment.

I see via the inspection cover that the bearing carrier is sloppily rotating around in there. I can move it back into position easily enough but want a proper fix.

Anyone have a pic or details of the setup? I hear the 225 has spacers or fingers too. Even if I can just get by till spring and can pop the engine out again then. Its about to get cold and we have little snow so want to get some easy work in!

krusty,

Did you just swap motors and use the original bellhousing that was on the old motor? Did you use the original clutch, pilot shaft bushing, and flywheel? Also is the fork on a pivot inside the bellhousing?  I had an issue with one of those back in the day on a chevy product, but it was difficult engaging and dis-engaging.

Sorry, not any answers, just more questions

Everything but the engine was reused. Old flywheel and beyond. I suspect the carrier rotated while the engine was out. I can rotate it back enough termporarily to shift but come spring I will have to open it up.
