Next week I need to be in Scottsdale, AZ.
Thinking of extending my stay and exploring some.
On my list is doing the squigglies on Rt 89 & 89A in the Prescott, Sedona area.
Sue Ann wants to gaze at the stars from Flagstaff for some reason so that's a stop.

Wondering about Williams, AZ on Rt 66 and the train ride to the Grand Canyon.
Is it worth the extra day?

Not liking the temperatures they are calling for especially at the higher elevations.

My advice on aging gracefully... ride fast bikes and date faster women, drink good tequila, practice your draw daily, be honest and fair in your dealings, but suffer not fools. Eat a hearty breakfast, and remember, ALL politicians are crooks.

One of my sisters lives in Kingman. Last April we went through on our way to Texas for the eclipse. The Grand Canyon is well worth a stop and she mentioned taking the train would be fun/nice. The car traffic can be really crazy getting in after 8:30 am.

Another place east, IIRC, is Walnut Canyon. REALLY nice mini canyon with old cave dwellings you can visit/go inside. Takes about an hour or so to walk the loop/descend and climb the stairs.

Welp, she booked 2 nights in Williams with a train ride to the South side of the Grand Canyon.

We did a chopper ride from Vegas last September to the GC landing in the bottom, pretty DanG impressive.
Looking forward to this.

We visited that area as a much younger couple, must be 20+ years ago. I was enchanted by Arizona, with the mountains, deserts, canyons and everything in between. We definitely want to visit the area again.

Take some time in Sedona and get some "red rock" on your shoes!

89A Sedona to Flagstaff has a nice overlook on the North end with Slide Rock park along the way,

Enjoy

We took the trip several years ago, orientated to a tourist industry (what else) to me the best part was the ride across the high prairie then the canyon part was many short stops by bus to view the canyon. We had never been in that part of the world, so we enjoyed it.  And yes, time in Sedona well worth it, particularly if you get out to the surrounding area.

Looks like we have 3 days to wander with one of them taking the train ride.
Plan on Sedona, Williams, and Flagstaff areas taking the long way around for scenery.

Do Walnut canyon, well worth the couple hours. Blazing hot in the summer but nicer now if not under snow.
