As I was building my 3rd new woodshed, my wife approached me and asked at what does SHE get a shed.  So, being the smart fella that I am, and wanting to avoid conflict at all cost, I told her the next one is a family use shed.  Using the same basic design as the wood sheds, just adding a floor, a front wall, and screening a big part of the walls (except the rear wall).

This is one of the woodsheds. The 2x6 across the front were to make it easier to move/transport.

We picked a spot thats about 75' from the house, on a ledge knoll that has a bunch of trees and brush around it. The back of the shed will face the house.  At some point it'll get a shelf / bar top across the back wall so we can eat dinner out there on nice evenings.

Don't mind the snow, thats pretty much gone now.  It made great mud smiley_thumbsdown

I pre-cut all the rough cut pine to the dimensions needed. The skids were supposed to be hemlock, but the fella cutting my wood and me had a miscommunication.

The rest of the walls and rafters, and the floor joists.

Measuring, then notching the skids, we built the two "sides" on level ground, then moved the into place. We added a few cross pieces in the back a one in the front then rechecked for square.

Then we put 1x across the backwall, and "wrapped each corner in 1x

got a bunch of 1x up, then ran out of time and good boards!

We did install the floor joists before the side panels.  The rough opening for screen on each wall is around 3' x 8'.

That's where we are at. Pretty sure I'll have the floor material today, and the strapping for the roof too, just got to trade some labor.  We are gonna go with the same green metal roof as the house.  I don't want the sun hitting it and blinding us certain times of the year.  I should have an 18in overhang on each side to prevent splashback.  Still figuring out how to do the front...plenty of time to overthink that while I'm at work!

Nice looking project
Smart move and quick thinking on keeping the wife happy. I'm sure you guys will enjoy it.
I've got something similar planned to keep the weather off my new to me mill. Think it will be nice to have the power head out of the elements, with just the track sticking out. Also give me a place to store all the incidentals that go along with it right close by and handy.

Jeff, I saw in your thread that your proficient at making screen frames and your more than welcome to continue perfecting that art by making screens for me!

newoodguy78, if you make it over to my side of NH, you can check out the sheds. They are easy to copy, and easy to move. Well, the wife's shed won't be easy to move, it's hemmed in by stone walls.

PS- The wife really likes the new shed. She really hates me calling it a She Shed

Granite I just might do that if I get over to your side. Again nice job on the she shed, that'll be well worth the effort and cost

I had a few hours this afternoon, so I worked on the shed. Got the last of the side boards on.

Then I got all but the last piece of the floor down. Ran out of daylight, and dinner was ready the too!

We have got family birthdays at the farm tomorrow, so not sure I'll have much time on the shed.  I may try and get all the purlins precut, that would at least be progress!

Thanks all, the wife is pretty happy with it, and that's my main concern. She shakes her head a lot, now that my son is calling it a SheShed too.

I asked her if she wanted to help me get the roof on, she said no thanks.  Its 28 degrees cooler this am than it was at 10pm when I turned in. Wind has kicked up too.  I don't see me, who doesn't care for roofing, wrestling metal roofing around today!  Maybe if I can sucker in a helper...

I miss that, Ann would ask me for something. I would make it happen. With her gone, it's just a sad time in my life till I'm with her again.

Nice work, keep her happy and you will be too.

Got just enough dry weather and a day off to get the roof on (with a lot of help from my buddy)

Also got the front door framed out and a good charge.of the front boards too.  We went with a real wide overhang to keep the rain out. worked great for working on it IN the rain!

Thanks all, just glad to finally get the roof on it!  It seems like the last 3 weekends its either rained, or the family was under the weather, or BOTH!  More rain forecast for both days this weekend.  I was supposed to be going to a modified race, but they already postponed that.  Hoping to get more shed done, like I said, at least I'm working under a roof now!
