I had a man come to buy lumber with his two boys, one about six and the other about ten. The younger boy had to pee and his father asked me if he could take the boy into my house and use the bathroom. I told the man to take him out that door which would put him out behind the barn where nobody could see him and he could pee any where out there. The older boy then turned to me with wide open eyes and excitement on his face and asked "WE CAN PEE OUTSIDE!!??" Then off the two boys ran through the door to water some grass behind the barn.
I had all I could do to keep from laughing. I guess a normal every day thing for us country boys was a rare great event for those city boys.

A few years back a wood working club from eastern Ma. around Boston came to my farm to hold a monthly meeting. They wanted to see me cut down a timber sized tree. We hiked up into the woods where I cut down a large beech. While we were there a man came over to me and asked quietly if it was ok to take a pee behind a tree. I told him it was ok and then he asked "It won't hurt the tree, will it?"
Again I had all I could do to keep from laughing.

A side note on the felling of that beech tree:
I wanted the tree to fall a bit to the left of the lean. That would put it into an open area. I told the group that the tree wants to fall over there but I want it to fall over here. And to my great delight the tree fell exactly where I wanted. The men clapped and cheered! First and only time I ever got a standing ovation for cutting down a tree. smiley_smug01 ffcheesy

My son grew up peeing outside when he was out.

We were at an event at one of the schools.   There inside and outside activities going on.  I was responsible for a display booth in the cafeteria    He was about 5 years old at the time and needed to go pee.

Being a resourceful little fellow and not one to wait long, he slipped out the cafeteria door and peed in the grass.  Of course there were windows along that side of the cafeteria and anyone who looked could see him.

I figured if he wasn't embarrassed neither was I.   ffcheesy

Years ago we were at a "balloon glow" and several balloons were filled with hot air and the pilots were periodically giving them a burst of hot air creating a glow.  Nearby folks started laughing and we turned to see our ~4 year old grandson silhouetted with his pants at half mast and a stream almost as tall as he was.

That's partly why I live where my neighbors are all at least half a mile away.  ffsmiley

We have two large lots or about 3 acres.  we are at was the edge of town, but after nicer houses were built further out, the city annexed them in, so they got taxes, and the homeowners got city fire protection.  30th is a main drag and our house is a long block off 30th.  there is a clinic on the street, and we are behind them.  the sawmill is at the back of our property quite out of site.  I have become known for my woodworking and at least once a doc from the clinic came through the back gate to find me watering the bushes.

If a toilet flush is 1.6 gallons and there are 100 million adult men between 18 and 65 in the US and we all peed outside 6 times a day, how much water would that save in toilet flushing.

960 million gallons of water.  Let's get our congressmen on that.  The ones from the south may be easiest to get on board. ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy

I was talk8ng to a neighbor about the traffic on his quiet little road. There are four houses. His and his brother's, another neighbor, and the house they grew up in, which we were standing in front of. He said his father used to say, if you wanted someone to drive by, just think you were going to relieve yourself in the yard.  ffcheesy

On a trip to Germany I witnessed several times men just pull off to the side of the road and take a pith.
Not hidden behind the car at all, out there for all to view.

Really not a big deal if you think about it.

Don't have to go to Germany.  I have seen it plenty of times here.  :uhoh:

My Grandpa told me stories of an old Ojibwe Indian woman that lived near his family when he was young. He said that he and his Dad would be walking along with her, and she'd just squat and pee, and then keep walking with them like it was nothing. And I guess it was nothing to her.

It always amazes me to think that only 80 years separates us from a time when there were natives that didn't speak English, and still had the old cultural practices like that.

I love my wife. I really do but she is a nasty woman. Every time I go to pee in the kitchen sink it is full of danged old dirty dishes. :uhoh:

This is my city boys in the country story.
4th of July
We used to take go carts down the hill here. We live on a dead end dirt road.
No motors and we would haul them up with my truck.
One of my friends daughters was seeing someone from a city in NY. These was city boys all the way.
My friend and I could tell they had no idea what to do and why they was here.
We went down on a go cart, me driving and my friend on the back.
Some other kids was on the others go carts. I think we had 4-5 go carts.
They saw how much fun we was having and off they went. They had quite the day!!!
I don't know who had more fun. the kids acting out all day or us watching them have fun.
They joined in some kind of baseball game, badminton, frisbee, fireworks. It was a day of fun.
I wonder if they still talk about it 15 years later?

Friend of mine teaches pre-school kids, and had to stop a little boy in the playground who was "going behind the tree". When she told him not to do that, he said: "But grandpa does that all the time!"  :uhoh: ffcheesy

My advice on aging gracefully... ride fast bikes and date faster women, drink good tequila, practice your draw daily, be honest and fair in your dealings, but suffer not fools. Eat a hearty breakfast, and remember, ALL politicians are crooks.

When I was at the lumber yard I always gave folks the option when they asked,

"You can go behind the Sheetrock building or go inside where you can wash your hands too"

Quite often I would get "outside is fine I have sanitizer in the truck"

I don't want to be anywhere close if someone needs air freshener there.

Not only men in Germany.  We were on the road a lot and it was rare but not unusual to see women in the squat.

I am not sure we told anyone this last year on our way to Jakes place for the sawing project.  For those who were there, you may recall a long delay in Atlanta due to an accident.  We were pulling our 41-foot camper and got into that mess of traffic 4 lanes wide.  barely moving.  My wife had to pee and eventually got to Defcon 1.  We had a big plastic glass, and she had to squat on the floorboard, and go.  the trouble arose when she kept on going and the cup was nearing the top.  I told her to stop so I could dump it, and she was laughing and could not stop.  She did get stopped and I was able to dump it out the window.  She was nervous because the whole time there were people in cars 2 feet away the whole time.  ffcool  Don't tell her I told you all.  ffsmiley
