Old man... Can't remember...

Appreciate if you could humor an old man.   Drawing a blank.   For a sawmill like a big circle saw, there is a name for the hinged /articulated arm that bridges over the saw head from the cab to the set works.  Carries the electric and/or hydraulic lines.   One end is stationary.   The other end traverses back and forth with the carriage.

Google and ChatGPT are both giving me names that are not what I looking for.   Appreciate if someone could refresh my memory...   :)

Thank you!

Agree, you're referring to the pantograph. Old term going back to the electric railroad trains that had a flexible frame on top off the engine, that contacted powerlines over the tracks.

"Pantograph" is indeed the word.  Have had that word bouncing around in my head for several days.  At the moment, have no recollection WHY I was trying to think of pantograph.  But, it will come to me eventually...

Appreciate everyone's help.  Thank you !

So far my salvation is that I don't care.  If I don't think that it is important then it really doesn't matter anyway.  I am trying to be content in my own skin.

I smile and speak to strangers in the parking lot like they are old friends.  I can imagine them walking away thinking that "that man was crazy" or either "I must be going crazy" because I don't remember that guy.  Either way I win.  :wacky:

I learned the term pantograph back when I was learning drafting almost 50 years ago.   It is an articulated arm with a stylus that follows a template for lettering.  An additional arm has a marking instrument (pen or pencil) for applying the letters to the velum.

Later I learned the meaning regarding machinery and sawmills.  My first experience with a pantograph was in a shipyard where I saw my first CNC plasma cutter cutting steel plate.   The power and air feed were via a pantograph.

But what the heck did I do yesterday?  What day is it?  Am I supposed to be somewhere? ffcheesy
