How do I link a file from a folder on my laptop to attach it to a thread I am working on? At the bottom of the thread it says click or drag a file to attach it but when I go to the file (my cheat sheet which is a Word document) and try to drag it over I just got a pretty little paperclip on the thread and it won't open. What did I do wrong?

I tried the cntrl C/Cntrl V like I use in word and others but that does not work here for me.

We used to have box to click that said Attach file and I'd use that but on the last update to this forum that went away. I think the function is still there but I don't know how to use it.

  Please help if you can.

I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

I would right click and copy, then paste in Paint and massage the image there. Then save it as jpeg file to put in my gallery. Prolly other ways too, but I like the flexibility of Paint.

Save the file as a PDF, then do the same thing. It may just be an unrecognized file type. Not as many folks use Word as they used to because of the licensing deal MS has these days. I sure can't afford it. PDF seems to work for everyone and on phones too.

It was a .doc file. I saved it again as a .pdf as Tom suggested but still cannot drag and drop it into the thread. Does it need to go to the Gallery first?

Right click copy & paste is the same as CntrlC/CntrlV. I tried doing that directly into the body of the text with no luck.

Well normally I would say 'Peshaw' to this, but in this case you may be right. ffcheesy ffcheesy
You had the same file type and used the same method (I think) that I used to drop a file in a post in the same thread. I had no issues (I did the drag and drop from my file explorer.
Wait, I have an idea. Instead of clicking on the file with the left mouse button and dragging it into the box, try using the right mouse button, and if it gives you an option when you release the button, select "copy" and see if that works for you.
Otherwise it just has to be computer hatred, plain and simple. :wink_2:

Wait, here's another point. You keep sayingh 'in the body of the text'. You can't attach a file that way, it has to be draged or pasted to that line that says " Click or drag files here to attach them."
In fact, if you click on that line it should bring up your file explorer.

Tom,

This was it. I was dropping in the body of the thread not on that dotted line/box. Seems to work fine there.

Jeff, et.al,

Thanks guys. (Operator error strikes again.)
