found a 372 xp  in a pawn shop for $449.00 looks good it had 24 inch bar and chain I have a 272xp that is nearly used up do you think this would be a good replacement saw I am 76 years old we don't cut a lot but we do have some big white and red pine that need to be sawn

Would be hard to say how much a used saw is worth. They have been making the 372 xp for a long time. I have one that is 25 years old so I know they have been making them at least that long. They are a good saw but you never know how much the previous owner used it or maybe more importantly if they used the proper fuel mixture. I gave $600 for mine when I bought it new although I know they are quite a bit higher now. Like buying anything used sometimes it works out good but sometimes it doesn't.

the difference between the 272 and 372 is night and day . 272 revs to  12000 372 turns 14500 I tune mine to 13000 . i run it on a processer its in the cut every 9 seconds ..
A bunch of chainsaws a BT6870 processer , TC 5 International track skidder and not near enough time

Bob you only tune it to 13k? No wonder people say you don't rev all the way up😁

Nothing personal GB, but those numbers aren't even close to accurate. And why "I read it online" inspires so little confidence anymore.

272 and the original  372 should BOTH be set to 13,500. Exception would be the new 372XT which may be 13,000, and is in any case electronically limited to 13,300 by the coil.

14,500 is about where a Jonsered 2051 turbo, (actually 14,800) should be, but pretty unhealthy for a 372.

Let's be careful when throwing advice around.
