Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D. - Age Activated
Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I
look over at my car and decide my car needs washing. As I start toward
the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I
brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail
before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trash
can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to
put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take
out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my
check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house
to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke
aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the Coke
is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to
keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke a vase of
flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered.

I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses
that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them
back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with
water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the
kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will
be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the
kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers...

Now I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on
the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some
towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember

what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

-the car isn't washed,

-the bills aren't paid,

-there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter,

-the flowers don't have enough water,

-there is still only one check in my check book,

-I can't find the remote,

-I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car
keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really
baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for
it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, --your day is coming!

Hey, that's why we're so busy. Problem comes when someone asks "what you been doin all day?"

"DanG'd if I know", doesn't seem like a good answer, nor does "Don't remember, but I am exhausted".
Others come to mind, but I don't repeat those outloud.  ;D

I thought the condition was caused  by my hair color.....whew, glad to know it happens to men too!   :D
Ya know what I wonder about?  Seriously.  Do you watch those crime shows like CSI and Forensic Files?  Last night Cowboy Bob and I were watching CSI and the criminalist folks were crawling on their hands and knees in this murder victims living room picking up fibers and hair with tweezers.  They got lucky and found two hairs and one tiny piece of fiber.  Do I need to tell ya what they'd get on them if they were crawling over MY livingroom floor?  I know for certain that if they were using tweezer's, it'd take em a year to get from one end to the other!  I can also guarantee that their most likely suspect would be the dog and Bob!   ::)

Is it just ME?   ???
Say when

Tom

Probably so!   I looked and can't find any of Cowboy Bob's hair on our carpet. :D

asy

you've all got it wrong...

HAd you put Vodka in your cold tea, instead of trying to find ice, none of this would have happened.

You would never have felt the fall to the floor, and rolling around in a drunken haze would have served as a lint-brush to the carpet, hence picking up all the dog's hair.

See?

There IS a solution...

Now, where did I leave the vodka bottle?

Thanks!

I"m glad you're glad I'm back, if ya weren't I Was gonna blame Roxie, it's all her fault ya know.

Spent an hour on the phone with her the other day (not game to open the phone bill, but she's such a hoot, I couldn't hang up!!!) and she said I should MAKE time to come visit!

Since I"m laid up at the moment, and waiting for the looooooovely injection (cortisone and painkillers) they put into my spine yesterday to kick in, I thought I"d disrupt your otherwise quiet existence with my own brand of humour.

Someone have a piggy hock for me at the roast, willyas!? Oh, and lots of photos!

So, Asy, you're mainlining vodka now! :o

What's the story?  I trust you are on the mend?

Oh, I would never put vodka in my tea - I prefer gin, dry, olives, shaken, neat  but since I've developed this aaadd I keep forgetting where I put the gin ::)

I don't usually put Vodka in my tea, although I did discover a VERY yummy mix with my other fave the other day...

Baileys Irish Cream over Frozen Raspberries..  yummm

the things a gal will do when she runs out of ice...  lol

The story with my back? I have a facet joint injury (which are the flanges that stick out the sides of the vertebrae, to stop you turning round like a pretzel...). Basically a function of my arthritis, but also excascerbated by a genetic thingy I have, the cartlidge has worn away, and the bone grinds on bone, which, I gotta say, ain't fun. So, a couple of years ago (after spending literally 10 years looking for a doctor who would listen to me) I found one who sent me for this injection, where they inject steroid and long acting anaesthetic directly into the joint under xray.

It's interesting. They take an xray, then come out and write on you with black texta, and put place markers on you, then take another xray, then come out and anaesthetise the skin, then put a big horse needle into the joint between the vertebrae. THen they take another xray with the needle in to make sure the point of the needle is in the right place. FUnny, they say.. now Stay still, won't you...  Um.. I have a BLUDDY GREAT NEEDLE HANGING OUT OF MY SPINE..  Trust me, I ain't goin' nowhere!!!

Then deciding it's in the right place, they inject this stuff. Only the fun thing is, the anaesthetic they give you only anaesthetises the skin, not that far down, so it feels sort of like what I'd imagine someone plunging a sword into you would feel like..  ouch!  Still, it's worth it to be pain free (in that area anyway) for a year or two.

Takes a couple of days to kick in, so I spend a day or two sitting on a couch, feeling sad and sorry for myself. My daughter's happy, though, coz I've nearly finished crochetting her pink poncho!! hehe

Oh, and, I've also been trying to get a house renovated, which is probably what aggravated the injury. Although, I Did learn to use a wrecking bar properly, and can now remove architraving maintaining it in a re-useable condition! hehe

Oh, and, Vodka should ideally be added to Cranberry juice, in a Cosmopolitain.

And a gin is where you process cotton.
