Kansas

The prices always go up faster than they come down.. Oil is now in the 70's per barrel. It ought to be coming down.

SwampDonkey

Three years ago when it dropped to $68 a barrel it was still $0.89/litre.

Went up to Rumford,Mexico about 40 minutes away and gas was $3.44,I filled up in town at 3.66.  :o   Read in todays paper there is a gas war going on and it's down to 3.38. The norm for gas is around 3.64 or so.

That's very true Kansas!  >:(

All they need to do on the news is mention that the gas prices might go up and they will jump right away.

On the other hand when they start to drop they only drop a penny or 2 every few days.

--------------

Yesterday the lowest gas price I saw in town was $3.71.9 for 87 octane!   The others were around $3.79.9!

I can't figure out why gas is so much higher in Maine than down country, it's across the street from the refinery.   ::) Maybe Maine gas tax is high, don't know.

I filled up the truck today in Norfolk, VA at the Wawa for $3.02 a gallon for Regular. "Cheapest" I've paid in months. It's still a ridiculous amount for a gallon of gas, though! smiley_furious3

I don't see where the relationship of the price of gas is to the hourly wage, fuel and gas prices are just too dam high and they are running the economy into the ground. I have not heard of one single person to aprove of the prices that we are being charged at the pump..... not even the station owners.

Hard to tell around here if gas is high or not, because on a dead end road here 3 or 4 families tramp and tread continuously like it's just water, going nowhere and doing nothing. Not only that, one person per car and all going the same place. You'd have to live here to witness, because you'd think I was lying. :D

there is more to blame that just the gas prices for sure if we all started car pooling and using lots less fuel it would have to come down.

isawlogs

Carpooling to me is not an option , geographicly speaking it just not gonna work.  All merchandise is moved by truck today, all of it, they all burn diesel. The more the fuel cost the more it needs to cost us, I don't see how car pooling will get that to be lowered. Car pooling may be part of the answer but IMO , it is a very small part. The economy and the buying power of the people are strangled by the high cost of fuel/gas.

Just that back in the 50's when we didn't think gas prices were high ($0.33 a gallon if no gas war going on) it was when $1/hour was many a working man's wage.  Then gas was 1/3 of an hours wage.
I'm thinking comparing that to today's wages and just using $10 an hour, that the price for a gallon of gas hasn't changed since the days of "cheap" gas by very much.
True, we went through some years when gas price relative to wages was very cheap, and now not so much. Just sayin...;)

True , but then most merchandise was also moved by train at a much lower cost !!!!!
