Is anyone aware of ANY grants or low interest loans available so I can purchase a large track of land before it gets "developed"?  I iwsh to purchase the 23 acre parcle to make it into a Christmas Tree Farm.  Any ideas would be appreciated!

In 1972 I built my first house, before I married the farm.  Anyhow,  I did some research on various methods of borrowing money.  I discovered that, at that time, there were 97 ways to borrow $ from the Federal Government in which to acquire or build a home.  The Government published a book listing all of the various outlets or agencies.   I am sure since then that there are twice as many sources available via the Feds.  It has been 30 years and with "simple" 3% rate growth per year there would be more sources.  ::) However, we all know that the governments rate of growth is much higher than 3%. :'( 8) 8)  Many such books are available at your local library rather than trying to purchase.  the best of fortune in your quest.  Let us know if you discover such a source for $.  I too would like to enlarge my forest holdings. ;)

Sometimes there are resources at the state level, as well.  If you are in a rural area, there is often rural development dollars available.

You will probably need to have some sort of a business plan for grants or loans.  You will need to know the Christmas tree market for your area, as well as the costs involved.  If you can't sell the trees, you won't stand much of a chance.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
